Class 45 at Gisburn 45124 north of Gisburn, between Hellifield and Blackburn, with the diverted 07.10 Glasgow to Euston on 2 May 1987. This line was threatened with closure at the time, along with the Settle to Carlisle line (which this train had also used); fortunately both have survived.
Class 33 at Swansea The Class 33 locomotives were always associated with the Southern Region of British Rail, but for a period in the 1980s their use on passenger trains extended into Wales. 33020 is seen here at Swansea, having just arrived with the 10.10 from Portsmouth Harbour on 20 April.
