Class 202 DEMU, Tonbridge 1018, one of the narrow-bodied Class 202 "Hastings" units, stands at Tonbridge with the 12.43 Hastings to Charing Cross, on 15 March 1986. Most of these units were withdrawn when the line from Tonbridge to Hastings was electrified.
Class 73 at Ashford 73003 at Ashford on 15 March, on the "Vulcan Van Train" railtour, which toured various lines in Kent, including the branch to Folkestone Harbour.
EMU at Dover 3rd-rail EMUs 1545 and 1514 wind their way out of Dover on 9 August, with the 12.32 Ramsgate to Charing Cross. The lines leading off to the right of the picture are the now-closed lines to Dover Western Docks station.
Class 304 at Sandwell & Dudley 304031 arriving at Sandwell & Dudley station on 2 March, with the 13.00 Wolverhampton to Birmingham New Street. Class 304 units operated local services around Birmingham, Liverpool and Manchester from the early 60s until their withdrawal in 1996.
Class 150 at Lincoln The 'Sprinter' units started to enter service in the mid-80s. This is 150134 at Lincoln Central, having just arrived with the 11.05 from Derby on 14 March 1986.
