The Furka-Oberalp railway runs east-west through the Alps, between Disentis and Brig. Here, at Disentis, no.103 'Chur' awaits departure with the 16.20 to Brig on 27 May 1991.

The Montreux - Oberland Bernois railway is a metre-gauge system linking Montreux with Zweisimmen. 8004 heads the 14.30 Montreux - Zweisimmen 'Panoramic Express' at Montbovon on 16 November 1997.
Rigi Mountain, near Luzern, is served by two rack railways, the Arth Rigi Bahn and the Vitznau Rigi Bahn. The two companies have now merged to become Rigi Bahnen. Taken on 29 May 1991, before the merger, this photograph shows cars 21 and 22 of the VRB descending steeply near Staffelhöhe, forming the 15.05 service from Rigi Kulm to Vitznau.
