IndiaThese photos were all taken on a holiday in India in 2019. Although the main purpose of the holiday was cycling, I was able to include some train travel. All these photos are in the southern state of Tamil Nadu.

The Nilgiri Mountain Railway climbs through the Western Ghats to the hill station at Udagamandalam (Ooty), and uses rack-fitted steam locomotives on the lower, steeper section of the route between Mettupalayam and Coonoor. On 27 November 2019 the daily passenger train from Mettupalayam was cancelled because of a landslip, but steam loco 37396 departed with a works train to repair the line. |
