The Class 197 diesel units, built by CAF at their factory in South Wales, entered service with Transport for Wales in November 2022. 197021 prepares to depart from Chester with the 14.43 to Liverpool Lime Street on 24 February 2023.

Merseyrail's new Class 777 trains began passenger service in early 2023 following a long period of testing and staff training. This is 777008 at Aughton Park on 5 August, working the 15.31 Liverpool Central to Ormskirk.
