Colas Rail Freight 70817 heads the 12.58 Carlisle Yard to Chirk timber train through Dent, on the Settle to Carlisle line, on 5 May 2021. This train runs most days of the week, and supplies the Kronospan paper mill in Chirk, Shropshire.

The Greater Anglia franchise which commenced in 2016 included a commitment to renew all the rolling stock. Class 745 electric multiple units entered service in 2020 on the London to Norwich route, replacing Class 90 locomotives. 745009 is seen here passing through Stratford forming the 13.00 Liverpool Street to Norwich express on 24  June, 2021.

The Class 720 EMU is Greater Anglia's new train for inner and outer suburban services, and these 5-car units also started to enter service in 2020. A pair of units, 720552 and 720537 are seen here arriving at Colchester main line station with the 14.00 from Colchester Town on 24 June.

Class 769 bi-mode units were converted from Class 319 Thameslink EMUs by fitting diesel engines. They were introduced to Rhymney line services in South Wales in 2021, initially operating on diesel only, pending electrification of parts of the Valley Lines network. 769006 is arriving at Cardiff Central on 5 July, working the 10.07 Penarth to Bargoed.
