Class 121 at Aylesbury

Two Class 121 first-generation single car DMUs, popularly known as Bubble Cars, survived until 2017 in operation with Chiltern Railways. W55034, built in 1961, was repainted in BR 1960s green livery, and is seen here at Aylesbury, with the 16.39 to Princes Risborough on 17 May 2017. It was withdrawn from normal service two days later.

DRS Class 37 at Carnforth

Almost as old as the above unit are the Class 37s used by Direct Rail Services on nuclear flask traffic. 37716 and 37218 bring a pair of flasks through Carnforth station with a Sellafield to Crewe working on 24 April.

Class 172 at Droitwich Spa

Class 172 units were introduced to West Midlands local services in 2010. This is 172334 arriving at Droitwich Spa with the 15.19 from Whitlock's End to Worcester on 22 May 2017.

GWR Class 387 at West Ealing

Great Western Railway took delivery of new Bombardier Class 387 electric units in 2016, for use on Thames Valley local services. Delays in completion of the electrification of the route meant that their initial use was restricted to a Paddington to Hayes & Harlington shuttle service. 387139 and 387138 call at West Ealing with the 11.15 from London Paddington on 10 March.
