A1 Tornado at Dalwhinnie

A1 Pacific 60163 "Tornado" was built new by enthusiasts and completed in 2008, to an LNER design. It makes regular runs on the main line railway network, and is seen here on 20 June 2015 at Dalwhinnie with a Stirling to Inverness special.

Class 92 at Edinburgh

The Caledonian Sleeper franchise which commenced in 2014 introduced regular Class 92 passenger workings to the West Coast Main Line. These locomotives were built for Channel Tunnel freight services but the level of traffic has never reached the original forecasts. 92044 "Couperin", still in the original Channel Tunnel livery, stands at Edinburgh Waverley in between sleeper duties on 14 June.

GBRf Class 66 at Bridge of Orchy

GBRf 66737 "Lesia" at Bridge of Orchy on the West Highland Line with the thrice-weekly train of empty alumina tanks from Fort William to North Blyth, on 17 April.

Class 365 at King's Cross

365520 at London King's Cross on 28 March. This unit has been repainted from its former First Capital Connect colours and now carries Great Northern branding.

Class 68 at Banbury

In 2015, Chiltern Railways introduced new Class 68 locomotives, owned by Direct Rail Services, onto its "Silver" express services between London and Birmingham. The regular six locomotives are painted in Chiltern's silver livery, but other DRS locomotives appear, such as 68008 "Avenger" seen here at Banbury with the 13.15 Marylebone to Birmingham Moor Street on 13 November
